What usually forces a replacement is not the cover at all. It is the reinforcement bar, the crush cans, or the mounting tabs behind it. Those parts absorb impact by design, and once they are deformed they do not do their job again.

Flexible substrate needs its own primer and additives, sprayed before the cover is fitted.
Refit and calibrate
Cover reinstalled, then sensors, cameras, and radar reconnected and calibrated.

Can a cracked bumper actually be repaired?
Usually yes. Plastic covers can be welded from behind, filled, sanded, and refinished so the crack does not return. Replacement becomes the better option when the cover is torn through, when mounting tabs have broken off in several places, or when the plastic has become brittle with age.
Why does a bumper repair cost more than it used to?
Because a bumper is no longer just a cover. Many now house parking sensors, a forward camera, and radar for adaptive cruise and automatic emergency braking. Those components have to be removed, reinstalled, and in most cases recalibrated, and the calibration is a documented manufacturer procedure.
Will my parking sensors and camera still work afterward?
Yes. We reinstall them and calibrate anything the manufacturer requires. If a sensor was damaged in the impact it gets replaced, and we confirm the systems function before the vehicle goes back to you.
Will the new bumper match my paint?
Bumper covers are refinished to your vehicle’s factory paint code and blended into the fenders or quarter panels where needed. Plastic and metal also reflect light slightly differently, which is another reason blending into the adjacent panels matters on a bumper.
My bumper looks fine but it was hit. Should I have it checked?
Yes. Bumper covers are designed to spring back and hide what happened behind them. The absorber and crush cans underneath may be compressed even when the cover looks straight, and those parts are what protect you in the next impact.
