Jim Winter Auto Body is the dedicated collision repair facility of Jim Winter Automotive Group, a Buick/GMC dealership at 3303 W. Michigan Ave in Jackson, Michigan. The body shop occupies its own building on the dealership campus, giving it factory parts access and manufacturer repair procedures without being limited to one make or model — we repair every vehicle that comes through the door.
Our story
Why a dealership built its own body shop
Jim Winter Automotive Group has served Jackson-area drivers for years as a Buick/GMC dealership. As the dealership grew, so did the number of customers asking where to take a car after an accident — and the answer was too often "somewhere else, and good luck coordinating it."
That gap is why the collision center exists. Rather than referring customers out, Jim Winter built a purpose-built repair facility on its own campus: dedicated repair bays, a computerized measuring system, and Global Finishing Solutions paint booths with a mix room for factory color matching. It runs as its own operation, with its own phone line and estimators, but it shares a parking lot with the dealership's parts and service departments — which matters the moment a collision repair turns up something mechanical.
The facility
What's actually in the building
Not every body shop can say all of this. Here's what backs up the repairs we do.
Global Finishing Solutions paint booths
Downdraft booths and a dedicated mix room, used to match your vehicle's factory color code rather than approximate it.
Computerized measuring
Structural damage is measured against factory specifications, not eyeballed, so a repaired frame or unibody actually returns to tolerance.
ADAS calibration capability
Cameras, radar, and parking sensors on newer vehicles are recalibrated after the repair, not left for you to discover a warning light later.
Dealership parts access
Being on the Jim Winter campus means factory parts ordering and manufacturer repair procedures most independent shops have to work harder to get.
How we operate
What working with us actually looks like
You choose us
Your insurer can recommend a shop. It cannot require one. You tell your adjuster you're using Jim Winter Auto Body.
We handle the claim
Estimates, approvals, and supplements go through our office and your adjuster — not back and forth through you.
We repair to factory spec
Measured, matched, and calibrated, not just made to look right from the driveway.
You get real updates
Check repair status online any time, or call the shop directly — not the main dealership line.
Questions
About us, answered
Is Jim Winter Auto Body part of the car dealership?
Yes. We're the collision repair division of Jim Winter Automotive Group, located in our own building on the same 3303 W. Michigan Ave campus as the dealership.
Do you only repair Buick and GMC vehicles?
No. We repair every make and model. The dealership connection gives us factory parts access and manufacturer procedures that benefit any vehicle we work on, not just the brands sold on the lot.
Can I have mechanical work done here too?
The body shop handles collision and cosmetic repair. Because the dealership's service department is on the same campus, we can coordinate directly if a collision repair uncovers a mechanical issue.
Do I have to be a Jim Winter customer to use the body shop?
No. Anyone can bring a vehicle to us for collision or body repair, regardless of where you bought your car or who you normally have it serviced by.
